Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been a balloon artist?

I’ve been a professional balloon entertainer for 14 years now. But, I’ve made balloon art off and on as a hobby since I was only 8 years old! So, in total, I’ve been twisting balloons for 16 years!

When did Pop and Twist Balloons start?

I first started off my career as a balloon artist in Massachusetts with the company I created called The Troupe of Fools. It was essentially an event entertainment company featuring myself as a balloon artist, several face painters, clowns, jugglers, unicyclists… you name it, we offered it! The Troupe of Fools started back in 2008.

I created PDX Balloons when I decided to officially move to Portland, OR, in early 2014. The PDX Balloons official website launched around July of 2015.

When the pandemic started, I had to relocate to the East Coast and decided to rebrand to better suit a life of travel. Thus, Pop and Twist Balloons was born!

How/why did you first start twisting balloons?

When I was about 8 years old, I got a balloon from a balloon artist in a Home Town Buffet. He seemed to not like kids very much. He was pretty rude, and his balloons were kind of lame, to be honest. I thought to myself, “I could do better!” … So I did!

What kind of parties do you perform at?

Pop and Twist Balloons will perform at ANY kind of event! Birthday Parties are the most common, but I also perform for conventions, restaurants, mitzvahs, company events, schools, fundraisers, festivals, holiday celebrations, graduations, weddings and wedding parties, and so much more!

How did you learn how to make balloon art?

I started learning from one of those balloon animal kits that you can get from party supply stores, when I was just 8 years old. Then, when I was 15 and just starting my career, I found a couple videos on YouTube with some nice designs. Over the past 14 years, I started forming my own original designs, which is mostly what I do nowadays. I am always learning and getting inspired by other balloon artists in the community.

How far do you travel?

Pop and Twist Balloons currently serves Amsterdam, Albany, and the surrounding areas.

I do make it out to the Boston area, or even New York City, for a small travel fee. I will travel anywhere in the world if proper accommodations are met. Just ask!

What’s the biggest thing you’ve made out of balloons?

My biggest balloon so far was a giant haunted pirate ship for Multnomah Athletic Club's annual Halloween Party. It was about 25ft. long, 10ft. wide, and the mast was about 20ft. high. Took about 7 hours to build by myself.
